Wild Stories —-interdisciplinary storytelling in space
Workshop working with nature
Forest-Studio works with Foresta Kids in Kinder Kulture Monate Berlin
Context
Cultures are rooted in stories. Through stories we inherit a mentality, like a map that guides our lives, shapes our values and forms ways in which we pay attention. How do we tell stories that support the emergence of an ecological mindset? How do we awaken and share imagination for new ways of multispecies togetherness on this planet?
About Floating University
An urban practice space that is used as a temporary inner-city laboratory for collective, experiential learning and transdisciplinary exchange. It is founded by a network of architects named Raumlabor, they transform this formal water trap into a space where buildings coexist with nature’s power. The space operation is run by a group of freelancers, using additional legal bodies depending on the different projects.
Workshop
We study local plants and animals
Working with reed, we make a collective sculpture of an endangered animal, or an animal that children will most like to make.
In the 3-days workshop, children will explore the available elements they can find in the floating University, such as branches, leaves, reeds, etc. And will sit down to discuss topics about wild animals encountered in life. Draw sculpture sketches for these wild animals. Then, under the guidance of the sculptor Zhang Qiang, the collected natural materials were used to make animal-shaped sculptures.
